Baldwin 'devastated' to tell son about mother's death

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died on October 21, 2021, on the set of Rust after actor Alec Baldwin misfired a prop gun during a rehearsal.

Baldwin was facing involuntary manslaughter charges for the shooting, but the charges were dismissed by a New Mexico judge on Thursday.

The judge also approved a settlement agreement between the Hutchins family and Rust producers.

Hutchins' widower, Matthew Hutchins, said he is "devastated" to have to tell their 9-year-old son that his mother is gone.

Baldwin said he is "grateful" that the charges against him have been dropped, but said he is "heartbroken" by Hutchins' death.

The producers of Rust are reportedly nine months late in paying the Hutchins family the settlement money.
