Avalanche Strikes Sikkim, Killing Seven Tourists
Seven people were killed and a dozen injured after an avalanche struck the Gangtok-Nathu La road in Sikkim on Tuesday afternoon.
The avalanche occurred at around 1:30 pm near the Tsomgo Lake, a popular tourist destination.
According to reports, the avalanche was triggered by heavy snowfall in the area. The victims were part of a group of tourists who were traveling by bus from Gangtok to Nathu La, a mountain pass on the border with China.
Rescue teams have been dispatched to the area, and the injured have been taken to a nearby hospital. The cause of the avalanche is still under investigation.
